Tidbits from Learning Lot - Tips on Self-care and more
Dear Parent,
August is here already! This month, I'm doing a detox and a lot of self-care. We’re staying local, so it’s easier. I’m watching what I eat, meditating (even just 5min a day), and getting some exercise - walking up the San Francisco hills during calls is enough cardio for me 😅.
How are you taking care of your wonderful self? Here are some quick and easy self-care tips:
🎶 Listen to calming sounds or music: I love the Calm app! It's not just for parents – there's a whole section dedicated to kids with fun and soothing content.
💧 Stay hydrated: We make sure our kids drink enough, but we often forget about ourselves.
💃 Dance or move around: It’s not just for kids! I love a good song and often dance a little while my kid jumps on the couches.
🌻 Smell flowers or natural scents: I like to add some gratitude when I do this (e.g., thank you for this beautiful smell and this sunny day). It brings us back into the moment and away from worries.
Now it’s time for your Learning Lot recommendations that go well with self-care. We care about making your life easier and more fun.
🌼 Blanca at Whole Child Home: Her consultations are based on positive discipline, positive parenting, and interpersonal neurobiology.
🌺 Nicole at Imperfect Families: She helps parents find calm, confidence, and connection with their kids.
🧘♀️ Generation Mindful: They offer great resources for teaching emotional skills.
😂 For some parenting humor, check out @momcomnyc: She is hilarious and says exactly what we are all thinking! 🙈🤣

Happy summer & stay cool!
